City of Round Rock Bulk Trash Pick Up--This Week!

Have you replaced some parts of your fence and have old lumber or have some scrap metal that you want out of your garage? Well if you are in the city limits of Round Rock you are in luck! City of Round Rock is hosting a bulk trash pick up during your normal trash day the week of April 19th - April 23rd. Place your large bulky items at the curb with your normal trash and the City will haul it away for you! Tree limbs and branches are NOT part of this effort and should be taken to recycling center. Brush Recycling Center is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Please no computers, appliances with Freon, or automotive products. If you have computer parts please take them to the Round Rock Serving Center or to Goodwill instead. The City does offer appliances recycling on some items for a small fee. Call the Round Rock Appliance Recycling hotline at 512-903-6195. For more information about bulk trash pickup you can call Round Rock Refuse at 512-255-4980.
The City is hosting a Spring Clean Up Week including household wastes like paint, fertilizer, and other chemicals. You must bring these items to the recycling center at 310 Deepwood Drive in Round Rock West and also bring a copy of your water bill and drivers license as proof of residency. Now do some spring cleaning!!

Round Rock West

Round Rock West is my neighborhood. I fought my husband tooth and nail when we were looking for homes because I wanted a shiny new house in Behrens Ranch. My husband and I both grew up in Round Rock and had differing opinions about what was most important in our new home. I grew up in Stone Canyon/Fern Bluff in a house that was brand new when we moved in but my husband spent his childhood in an older home in Round Rock West.
When we bought our previous home we were newly married with no kids and a 3 bedroom with a study fit us perfectly. Fast forward to two kids later and we found that our one story, 2100 square foot house wasn’t working for us. We needed 4 bedrooms and a game room because kids have a lot of stuff! We had looked for homes off and on but our house sold and suddenly we had to make a decision about where and what we were going to buy.
My list of “wants” in a new home went something like this: good schools, built within last 10 years, great neighborhood, west side of I-35, easy access to highways, 4 bedrooms + a game room, and a decent size yard. My husband’s list was more like: Large backyard, lots of garage space, tons of trees, and 4 bedrooms. What did we end up with? We bought a 30 year old home, on ½ acre lot, tons of trees, oversize 4 car garage, 4 bedrooms, 2 game rooms, and it is next to the train tracks!
At this point you might think I asked for a divorce from my husband but I didn’t. In fact we both fell in love with the house we now live in because of all the things it already had and all of the potential for more. Even the train doesn’t bother me and the kids think it is “so cool.”
Our house is the quintessential Round Rock West home. We have a stunning lot with so many trees that you could be standing in the backyard when it rains and not even know it was raining. The kids can play baseball, have a playscape, and we still have room for that eventual pool. The house was built in 1977 but has had some updating and remodeling by previous owners so it doesn’t wallpaper but does have popcorn ceilings!
The beauty of a home in Round Rock West is the ability to make slow updates as the family grows and our needs change. We have the incredible capability to add-on to the house in almost any direction due to the size of our lot. We could enclose our 1000 square feet of garage and quickly go from 2414 square feet to 3414 square feet! This gives us great flexibility because right now our kids are young and master up makes sense but in a few more years we may want a master down…I love my home even though it is the total opposite of everything that I was sure I wanted.
Homes in Round Rock West are unique, offer beautiful landscape/lots, and also provide the benefit of an exemplary rated elementary school plus middle and high school in walking distance. If you are like me and dream of moving up to Behrens Ranch or Mira Vista you may find that you can create your dream home by buying an older home in Round Rock West and tweaking it just a bit. Give it a look because your dream home may not be where you expect to find it.

Arbor Place Round Rock

Looking to get in to an executive neighborhood within the city limits of Round Rock, Texas? A new gated community has come to town and this is your chance to catch it early and get your choice of lots. Being located within the city of Round Rock typically provides the benefit of lower taxes and use of city of Round Rock resources.

Arbor Place is located near 620 off of Smyers Lane. If you take 620 towards St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, turn on Wyoming Springs, then take an immediate left on Smyers.

Arbor place offers some lots as large as .25 acres from David Weekly Homes. Originally Meritage Homes was slated to build in this area also but has since pulled out and been replaced by Highland Homes. Home prices begin in the high $400’s and the convenience of the location is unbeatable.

Round Rock Symphony

Did you know that Round Rock has a symphony? Most people don't as this a newly formed group and the beginning of a arts movement in town. This is a professional symphony orchestra with the goal of enriching the City of Round Rock. The Round Rock Symphony will perform approximately 4-6 times each year so catch them while you can. The Symphony is fortunate to have Music Director, Silas Nathaniel Huff, renowned composer/conductor.

Strong community partnerships will be forged through free concerts at schools and free tickets to audience members under 12 years of age. Additionally the Symphony promotes investment in Round Rock by offering an outlet for the arts that we have be lacking. You will no longer have to drive south of the city limits to participate in leisure and arts activities. This Symphony is a great step towards creating a more artistically diverse community.
